Day 1 in Tours. We needed to go on a tour. But rather than doing a tour of Tours, we wanted to tour the Chateaus located around Tours. So we left Tours on a tour mini bus to do a tour of Chateaus located around Tours.
With such a tour departing from Tours we were definitely going to be tourists.
Now on to the serious stuff.
What does the blog title mean. You will have to wait for the answer to that. But let’s focus on the photo.
Yes the feature photo is unusual. But it is closely connected to Chateau history and famous people.
This picture is a wooden tank that was built on the original design of Leonardo da Vinci. Yes Leonardo was a man of the Chateaus in the Loire Valley. When Leonardo was a littler older (he must have been well past 50 because they called him old) the king of France invited him to come and live in a Chateau where he could continue his arts, inventions and just about anything else that a genius mind wanted to create.
Worth looking up some of his inventions if you have time. Yes he was definitely a genius and a master, but he had some serious interest in weapon design. Someone to keep close if you are a King in France where the people be-head you if they get a little upset and feel like a revolution.
Where was I ….rambling yes …. but with purpose ……. The first Chateau on our tour was where Leonardo lived.
Now some photos ……… As Chateaus go, this was small but still with some entertaining room. But the gardens were cool and very private looking so I am sure he had lots of fun testing his water driven inventions and doing a few laps in his tank.
P.S. This next photo proves that even Leonardo needed a man cave. It is where we men can really nurture our creative minds, put aside all those things that need fixing, and keep our beer cold.
Great guy the da Vinci … And long live the man cave ….. or tank …. Or wherever you need to be creative.
