The tour must go on …….  2 more Chateaues to see and the driver has the pedal to the metal. Very scary being able to read the number plate on the car coming towards you head-on as our driver overtakes the local baguette delivery van.

But we made it around the whole way without incident. I tried to explain to the driver that I was not wishing to be Leonardo da Vinci being transported to a Chateau for burial. But again …… Lost in translation …….. because she then drove faster.

Kylie asked me why I tipped the driver at the end of our journey …… I explained that the tip was not for the safe driving, but just to thank her kindly for not killing us on the back roads of the Loire Valley. Although, clever way to get some tips because she made everyone feel incredibly lucky to arrive safely back in Tours. But late in the day I was promising Kylie that if there were more than 4 Chateaus to see, we would part company with the group and start hitch hiking back to Tours.

Now … Where was I …… That’s right. At another bloody Chateau. The fast driving had a bonus, we had plenty of time at each Chateau to look around.

Our next two chateaus were impressive in size and architectural design. But I am not sure you want to see 100 Chateau photos. They say the Chateaus are postcard picture perfect …. and perhaps they are. But here I will just share a few photos that did not quite make the postcard short list.

Yep, the last Chateau we visited was built right across the river. Not the smartest way to build a Chateau I am sure. But I bet some noble Frenchman thought it was a good idea at the time. I could not even think of a Monty Python quote to match the absurdity of this idea. But hey I don’t have live in it.

Plus you could imagine his wife’s response to him wanting to go away with the boys fishing. I think it goes something like ……… You can stay home and and just fish out the window when you finish mowing the lawns.

Now back to the formula one race that is called returning to Tours with your speedy driver / guide. This was one incredible day of Chateaus !!
