A few fun facts that I haven’t shared already ……..

Their train stations are clean and have really cool tiled walls. This photo is of the train station wall. Staff very helpful too or I would have most likely had us going to some remote village in the Portuguese mountains.

They love their coffee ……..

Made the mistake after a few strong espressos, to order a slightly bigger coffee then what you see here. And they said …oh you want an Americano. Not wanting to be branded as an American tourist …. I have reverted back to the strong small espressos. Being alert while we travel should not be a problem.

They may love their coffee ………… but they love their beer even more. And they are quite comfortable to sit down at 10am for a heart starter and some sardines or chorizo sausage. Luckily we had lots of touristy things to do before we became distracted by their local customs.

One thing we didn’t master properly in Porto was ordering a white wine. Even when we asked for the recommendation of a good white wine or pointed at the menu, at least 3 times we ended up with red wine. And when it is so cheap …. It is hard to to send back without felling guilty. Kylie now loves Portugese red wine ……. Or is way too polite to not look like she enjoyed it.
