Few more days in Lisbon and then farewell to Portugal

Ok, it is time to move on. Yes … Still running a bit behind with the blog ……. So time to wrap up Portugal (code for I have been procrastinating and drinking foreign beers). But we have really enjoyed every day in this country with so many great people and fun things to do.

I will sprinkle a few more photos as a parting gift …. And then a small sharing of wisdom that I describe as a quiet reflection of my time in Portugal and something that will stay with me for many years.

Yes …. This blog may end up being very deep in wisdom and soulful guidance …….. so do not log off now now thinking, OMG …. This is just more pictures of monuments and things that he thinks might be mildly amusing or even worse ……. Something that reminds him of a Monty Python quote.

But first the photos …..

Ok, not too many more ……..

Ok, so this next photo needs explaining. Kylie directed us towards finding the best Portugese tarts in all of Portugal. Ok if you are sniggering now then your mind is worse than mine and you need to hit google search to understand what a Portugese tart actually is. I will not entertain your childish jokes here. This is a serious blog site.

But the truth is people were lining up …… And it seriously went outside the store and down the foot path …. Just to buy a Portugese tart.

You may ask … Where is the photo of the tart ? Why has he posted a photo of a napkin holder. Well, as the compare the meerkat dude says (yes the ads are over here too) …… Simples.

When you wait a long time for a Portugese tart and it is delivered to your table fresh and still hot …. You do not take a photo. You eat it and then just tell everyone how great it was.

The next photo had to be shared because …. Well it was just weird. It was a retro everything store tucked away in a narrow street that we searched trying to find an entrance to a tower for great city views. Yep I told Kylie I would go up it …. Portugese beer talking again.

Anyway look closely at the photo and anyone who is nearing my milestone will recognise him in an instant. And I don’t mean the reflection of me taking the photo. The rest of you young folk can use technology to work it out.

Anyway it is time to share my wisdom.

After spending many days in Porto and Lisbon and meditating to all the chants of buskers good and bad …. And even walking into some live music venues ………. I shall leave you with a learning for all ages.

The most popular busking or bad cover band song in all of portugal is …… Wait for it. …. Because this is not legen – dairy ……… is

knocking on heaven’s door

We heard so many versions that i started to sing along. It was almost like being in a trance and you must chant along with the busker.

It was haunting …. And something I may not ever recover from.

Anyway farewell to portugal ……. The country of the rooster. If you want to know why … Google it. Quite a cool story that my blog should not take credit for re-telling.
