What was I thinking …..almost leaving without acknowledging the fine contribution of the humble busker to the vibrant city of Madrid. And trust me …. The city is full of them.
This one above interested me the most. Some dude sits inside the goat costume and just shakes around a lot hoping that people drop money into the tin in front of him where there is a stuffed toy goat sitting.
Perhaps I know not the importance goats have played in Spanish history. Perhaps my old albury colleague, Stephen Liston, who has studied goats closely in various PHD Masters subjects could enlighten readers as to why.
But for now I shall just say, it was a weird busking performance.
But he was not alone ….. Unfortunately this next guy left his busking post for a break. Perhaps just as well, because his tight Spider-Man costume and not so flattering figure, made for uncomfortable viewing.
But he left behind his little Spider-Man doll to entertain passers by (zoom in on the photo and you will see him). I think more money went into the tin thanks to the doll while he was having a break from scaring small children.
Ok, so I need to be kinder to the buskers. So I will now just post a couple of photos and say no more.
Well perhaps I need to explain the last couple of photos. At first I thought it was a dancing dog. Turns out his foot was stuck in his lead. But still I voted him the most talented performer of the day. I think his owner was bemused when I walked over and gave her 1 euro, patted the dog and walked away.

Flawless half century that. Marvellous (done in a Richie Benaud accent). Happy Birthday mate, may you go unbeaten for another 50. Edo, Katrina and Riley
