Now this is a rock

I was was not forgetting the rock of Gilbrata …….. It needed its own post as it was an amazin experience to see it ……  And then drive most of the way up it on crazy small roads with Alex who had an interesting cross Pommy and Spanish accent. Has lived there all his life and was an ex policeman …. So we kind felt safe in the 20+ year old van as I looked over the edge of major cliff drops.

But …… Yes Gilbrata is a small part of Spain that still belongs to the United Kingdom. You will need to google the history as Alex relayed it all to us in a short timeframe …… Plus way too much to type here.

The trip will leave us with some amazing memories, including crossing a runway minutes after the plane lands and the traffic light turns green. No joke …….. Haven’t experienced that since we walked across the Albury airport runway after the Gold Cup race meeting …. But that was long time ago (Steve Liston knows the full story if you need to know).

Anyway we enjoyed seeing the heights of Gilbrata, St Michael’s cave and the famous monkeys.

One really cool thing was that you could see across the straight of Gilbrata to the coast line of Africa.

Second cool thing is …. Thanks to a sale at the local sports store and the colours matching Arsenal’s home strip, I now have another football team to follow ………
